Germanium IP speakers carry sound to any point of the building over the same network cable: for paging and public announcements, music, scheduled messages and emergency alerts. The family includes indoor ceiling and wall models and an outdoor horn model rated IP66, from 25 to 55 W, and it comes in two models: Germanium and Germanium Smart.
Both models share the same hardware: each speaker runs on PoE (IEEE 802.3at) or a 12 V adapter and has built-in memory for audio files and alarm inputs. The two models differ in the firmware they run.
The two models:
- Germanium: the standard model with the current firmware. It supports SIP, RTP, multicast, MQTT and HTTP; manual, scheduled, multicast and event-linked playback; audio processing (AEC, AGC and ANS); and integration with the KDT console, NVRs, cameras and KDT video management software, so an event such as motion detection or an alarm trigger can instantly play a voice message or a siren on the right speaker.
- Germanium Smart: the same hardware with firmware written by KDT's software team. It handles SIP calls, multicast paging and music from the KDT console, and adds: priority between audio sources, so an emergency siren and a SIP call always come before music and radio; grouping speakers without a console; group commands such as a siren, a clip or text-to-speech (TTS) on a whole group; and updates from KDT's server that automatically return to the previous version if a new one fails to start.
With both models, the KDT console sends music and paging as multicast to groups of speakers, so every speaker in a group plays the same stream at the same time.
For paging, scheduled playback and alerts together with KDT video systems, the Germanium model does the job; if a project needs priorities between audio sources, group alerts without a console or text-to-speech, choose Germanium Smart.
